Description
A rich and creamy vermicelli pudding with dates and nuts, traditionally served during Eid but also perfect for Iftar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup vermicelli, broken into small pieces
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1/4 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
- 10 dates, pitted and chopped
- 4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar or to taste
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- Pinch of saffron strands (optional)
- 2 tbsp rose water (optional)
Instructions
- 1Heat ghee in a pan, add vermicelli and roast until golden brown.
- 2Add chopped nuts and dates, sauté for 2 minutes.
- 3Pour in the milk and bring to a boil.
- 4Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron if using.
- 5Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the vermicelli is cooked and the pudding thickens.
- 6Stir in rose water if using.
- 7Serve warm or chilled, garnished with additional nuts.
