Description
Crispy fritters made with assorted vegetables and chickpea flour, a popular Iftar snack.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 potato, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, julienned
- 1 cup spinach, chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, mix chickpea flour, spices, baking soda, and salt.
- 2Add water gradually to make a thick batter.
- 3Add all the vegetables and mix well to coat them with the batter.
- 4Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
- 5Drop spoonfuls of the vegetable mixture into the hot oil.
- 6Fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- 7Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 8Serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
