Description
A hearty and protein-rich dish made with wheat, lentils, and chicken, perfect for Iftar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup wheat, soaked overnight
- 1/4 cup each of chana dal, moong dal, and masoor dal, soaked for 2 hours
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely sliced
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 4 tbsp ghee or oil
- Salt to taste
- For garnish: fried onions, chopped coriander, lemon wedges
Instructions
- 1Cook the soaked wheat and lentils in 6 cups of water until soft and mushy.
- 2In a separate pot, heat ghee, add sliced onions and fry until golden brown.
- 3Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, sauté for 2 minutes.
- 4Add chicken pieces and cook until they change color.
- 5Add all the spices and yogurt, cook for 5 minutes.
- 6Add the cooked wheat and lentil mixture to the chicken.
- 7Cook on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8Mash the mixture with a wooden spoon to get a paste-like consistency.
- 9Garnish with fried onions, coriander, and serve with lemon wedges.
