Turkish Pide with Cheese

Description
Boat-shaped flatbread topped with cheese and herbs, a delicious Iftar option.
Ingredients
- For the dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- For the filling:
- 2 cups cheese (mix of feta and mozzarella), crumbled
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Black sesame seeds for sprinkling
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- 2Add warm water and olive oil, mix until a dough forms.
- 3Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- 5Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 6In a bowl, mix cheeses with herbs.
- 7Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces.
- 8Roll each piece into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 9Spread cheese mixture in the center, leaving a border.
- 10Fold the edges over slightly and pinch the ends to form a boat shape.
- 11Brush the edges with beaten egg and sprinkle with black sesame seeds.
- 12Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- 13Brush with melted butter while hot.
- 14Serve warm.
