Description
Crispy triangular pastries filled with spiced potatoes and peas, a popular Iftar snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup oil
- Water as needed
- 3 potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- 1Mix flour, oil, and salt. Add water gradually to make a firm dough. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
- 2Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- 3Add onions, green chilies, and ginger. Sauté until onions are translucent.
- 4Add peas and all the spices. Cook for 2 minutes.
- 5Add mashed potatoes and mix well. Cook for 5 minutes. Let the filling cool.
- 6Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a circle and cut in half.
- 7Form a cone with each half, fill with the potato mixture, and seal the edges.
- 8Deep fry the samosas until golden brown and crispy.
- 9Serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
