Description
A flavorful and aromatic rice dish with tender chicken pieces, perfect for Iftar.
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500g chicken pieces
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- 1Wash and soak the rice for 30 minutes, then drain.
- 2Heat ghee in a large pot, add sliced onions and fry until golden brown.
- 3Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, sauté for 2 minutes.
- 4Add chicken pieces and cook until they change color.
- 5Add tomatoes, yogurt, and all the spices. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- 6Add rice, 4 cups of water, mint, and coriander leaves. Mix gently.
- 7Cover and cook on low heat until rice is done and water is absorbed.
- 8Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
