Chicken Biryani

Description

A flavorful and aromatic rice dish with tender chicken pieces, perfect for Iftar.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 500g chicken pieces
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

    Wash and soak the rice for 30 minutes, then drain.

    Heat ghee in a large pot, add sliced onions and fry until golden brown.

    Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, sauté for 2 minutes.

    Add chicken pieces and cook until they change color.

    Add tomatoes, yogurt, and all the spices. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.

    Add rice, 4 cups of water, mint, and coriander leaves. Mix gently.

    Cover and cook on low heat until rice is done and water is absorbed.

    Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
